Neakasa Riko Honored with IFA 2026 Innovation Award, Debuts Full Smart Pet Ecosystem in Berlin

Riko Honored with IFA 2026 Innovation Award

BERLIN, GERMANY — September 7, 2026 — Neakasa, a global provider of smart pet care solutions, today announced that the Neakasa Riko smart wet-meal feeder has been named an IFA 2026 Innovation Award Honoree, recognizing its fresh approach to automated wet-meal feeding for cats.

Alongside Riko, the company is showcasing the Neakasa M9 Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box at its booth at IFA 2026 in Berlin.

Riko Brings a New Approach to Automated Wet-Meal Feeding

Riko was developed to simplify the daily preparation of rehydrated freeze-dried meals: how to provide freshly prepared meals without requiring owners to prepare and refill food throughout the day.

Instead of storing prepared wet food, Riko stores freeze-dried food in its dry form and automatically grinds and mixes it with water at scheduled feeding times. Each meal is prepared according to the selected portion and hydration level, offering an alternative approach to incorporating wet meals into a cat's daily feeding routine.

Riko supports adjustable water-to-food ratios from 1:1 to 5:1 and can schedule more than 20 meals per day, with portions ranging from 1 to 15 grams. Its 3L food bin and 2.4L water tank can support up to 10 days of automated feeding for one 12-pound adult cat, depending on feeding amounts and schedules.

Through the Neakasa app, owners can manage feeding schedules, adjust portions, monitor food and water levels, review feeding history, and receive low-level alerts. Removable components and stainless steel bowls are designed to simplify routine maintenance, while an optional battery provides up to seven days of cordless operation and backup power during outages.

The recognition as an IFA 2026 Innovation Award Honoree further highlights Riko's approach to rethinking how automated feeding can be integrated into modern pet households.

Neakasa Riko will officially launch across all platforms on September 8, 2026.

M9 Combines Automated Cleaning With a Safety- and Comfort-Centered Design

The Neakasa M9 Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box was another major attraction at the Neakasa booth, where visitors showed strong interest in its approach to safety, cat comfort, and everyday maintenance.

M9 features TILT-SAFE Rotation, a structural design that keeps the litter chamber open throughout the cleaning cycle and reduces areas where a cat could potentially become trapped or pinched. Rather than relying solely on sensors to detect potential risks, the design incorporates safety considerations into the physical movement of the litter chamber.

The M9 also features a 96L Open-View Cabin, providing a spacious interior and wider field of view for cats. Its PureTower Odor Control System combines activated carbon and a desiccant layer to help reduce odors and manage moisture.

Additional features include detachable components for easier cleaning, a 10.2-inch low-entry design, a litter-shield ring to help reduce litter tracking, and smart app management for remote control, cat activity tracking, and product status notifications.

The Neakasa M9 will officially launch across all channels on October 9, 2026. Stay tuned for its official launch and more details.

The strong response to both products reflects growing consumer interest in pet technology that goes beyond basic automation. For today's pet owners, convenience is increasingly connected with other considerations, including feeding routines, pet comfort, safety, hygiene, and ease of maintenance.

Riko and M9 demonstrate two different applications of this approach. Riko focuses on rethinking automated feeding through on-demand wet-meal preparation, while M9 combines automated litter cleaning with structural safety and a cat-centered design.
