Riko is Neakasa’s Fresh-Made Wet Meal Feeder that turns freeze-dried food into ready-to-eat wet meals at feeding time.
Most feeders simply dispense food. Riko is designed to upgrade the meal itself by turning freeze-dried food into moisture-rich wet meals.
Many cats do not get enough water from drinking alone. Feeding wet meals is one practical way to help increase daily water intake.
Most wet food machines are still just small fridges for pre-made food. Riko takes a different path by making wet meals from freeze-dried food at feeding time instead of storing them cold.
Freeze-dried offers a better base than dry food, while being easier to store and portion than canned wet food. It helps make wetter meals more practical in daily life.
That’s the goal. Riko is being designed to work with a wide range of freeze-dried foods, so you can keep using the food your pet already knows and loves. The app will also support popular freeze-dried brands with feeding guidance. For best compatibility, individual pieces should be no larger than 15 × 15 × 25 mm (about 0.6 × 0.6 × 1.0 in).
If Riko will be your pet’s primary feeding method, we recommend using complete and balanced freeze-dried food, not freeze-dried treats.
No. Riko uses room-temperature water. We explored heated water early on, but it would have made the system more complex and much more power-hungry. Instead, Riko improves room-temperature rehydration by grinding the freeze-dried food into smaller pieces and allowing time for soaking after spraying.
In theory, it may be possible, but we do not recommend it. Riko is designed around freeze-dried food and works best when used as intended.
Yes. Riko supports adjustable 1:1 to 5:1 water-to-food ratios to match different pets, textures, and feeding needs.
If you’re already feeding freeze-dried food with manual rehydration, this is usually less of a concern.
If your cat hasn’t tried rehydrated freeze-dried food before, we recommend starting with a small test portion first. You can crush the freeze-dried food with a metal spoon, add water, let it soak for 10–15 minutes, and see how your cat responds. From there, you can try different freeze-dried recipes and water-to-food ratios to find what your cat prefers.
Riko supports 20+ meals a day with portions from 0.04–0.7 oz (1–20 g), making it easier to serve smaller, more frequent meals when needed.
Riko is designed to help keep freeze-dried food dry and protected inside the machine, with an airtight lid, a self-sealing grinder, and built-in desiccant support.
Yes. Easy cleaning was a key design priority. The main unit includes two stainless steel bowls for rotation, the Riko Everyday Set adds an extra bowl set, and any part that is likely to get messy is removable for simple daily cleaning.
The battery allows cordless use for up to 7 days and also works as backup power during outages, so feeding can stay on track even when you’re away.
Riko’s food and water capacity can theoretically support up to 10 days of automatic feeding, but this depends on your cat’s actual meal size and schedule. We recommend observing your cat’s routine first and making sure meals are finished, since leftover wet food should not be left sitting in the bowl.
Riko is designed primarily for cats, especially because many cats need more support around hydration. That said, small dogs can use Riko too.
Riko will offer an optional multi-cat access module that reads implanted microchips. It opens only for the right cat, and retracts if the wrong cat approaches. The multi-cat module will be available as a Kickstarter add-on at a better-than-retail price, but it is expected to ship separately about eight months after the main unit.
Tooling has been completed, and Riko is currently undergoing multiple rounds of pilot production and final validation testing. If everything remains on schedule, we expect fulfillment to begin shortly after the Kickstarter campaign ends, with shipping starting in August 2026. We’ll continue to keep backers updated throughout the process.
We plan to ship Riko worldwide.
