Riko is Neakasa’s Fresh-Made Wet Meal Feeder that turns freeze-dried food into ready-to-eat wet meals at feeding time.
How is Riko different from a regular feeder?
Most feeders simply dispense food. Riko is designed to upgrade the meal itself by turning freeze-dried food into moisture-rich wet meals.
Why is moisture important?
Many cats do not get enough water from drinking alone. Feeding wet meals is one practical way to help increase daily water intake.
How is Riko different from other wet food machines?
Most wet food machines are still just small fridges for pre-made food. Riko takes a different path by making wet meals from freeze-dried food at feeding time instead of storing them cold.
Why does Riko start with freeze-dried food?
Freeze-dried offers a better base than dry food, while being easier to store and portion than canned wet food. It helps make wetter meals more practical in daily life.
Does Riko work with different freeze-dried foods?
That’s the goal. Riko is being designed to work with a wide range of freeze-dried foods, so you can keep using the food your pet already knows and loves. The app will also support popular freeze-dried brands with feeding guidance.
If Riko will be your pet’s primary feeding method, we recommend using complete and balanced freeze-dried food, not freeze-dried treats.
Can I use dry kibble instead of freeze-dried food?
In theory, it may be possible, but we do not recommend it. Riko is designed around freeze-dried food and works best when used as intended.
Can I adjust the water-to-food ratio?
Yes. Riko supports adjustable 1:1 to 5:1 water-to-food ratios to match different pets, textures, and feeding needs.
What if my cat doesn’t eat it?
If you’re already feeding freeze-dried food with manual rehydration, this is usually less of a concern. If your cat hasn’t tried rehydrated freeze-dried food before, we recommend starting with small portions and experimenting with different freeze-dried recipes and water-to-food ratios to find what your cat prefers.
How many meals can I schedule per day?
Riko supports 20+ meals a day with portions from 0.04–0.7 oz (1–20 g), making it easier to serve smaller, more frequent meals when needed.
Will food stay fresh inside the machine?
Riko is designed to help keep freeze-dried food dry and protected inside the machine, with an airtight lid, a self-sealing grinder, and built-in desiccant support.
Is Riko easy to clean?
Yes. Easy cleaning was a key design priority. The main unit includes two stainless steel bowls for rotation, the Riko Everyday Set adds an extra bowl set, and any part that is likely to get messy is removable for simple daily cleaning.
What does the battery do?
The battery allows cordless use for up to 7 days and also works as backup power during outages, so feeding can stay on track even when you’re away.
Can I leave Riko unattended for several days?
Riko’s food and water capacity can theoretically support up to 10 days of automatic feeding, but this depends on your cat’s actual meal size and schedule. We recommend observing your cat’s routine first and making sure meals are finished, since leftover wet food should not be left sitting in the bowl.
Is Riko only for cats?
Riko is designed primarily for cats, especially because many cats need more support around hydration. That said, small dogs can use Riko too.
What if I have more than one cat?
Riko will offer an optional multi-cat access module that reads implanted microchips. It opens only for the right cat, and retracts if the wrong cat approaches. The multi-cat module will be available as a Kickstarter add-on at a better-than-retail price, but it is expected to ship separately about eight months after the main unit.
What does the $10 deposit get me?
Your deposit unlocks Reserve Backer pricing and your best launch offer before Kickstarter goes live.
How does the $10 deposit refund work?
After the Kickstarter campaign ends, we will first refund your $10 deposit, whether or not you purchase. If you purchase, we will then refund the additional package discount tied to the option you choose.
Can I choose my package later?
Yes. Your $10 deposit reserves your launch offer now, and you can choose your package when the Kickstarter campaign goes live.
When will Riko launch?
Riko is planned to launch on Kickstarter on June 16.
When will Riko ship?
The tooling is already complete and we are now in trial production. If everything stays on track, we expect shipping to begin around July. We’ll continue to share updates if anything changes.
Can I still join if I’m not ready to reserve?
Yes. If you’re not ready to place a deposit, you can still join the waitlist to get launch updates and reminders.
